    Welcome to Santa Marta, the Pearl of the Americas

    Your adventure begins upon arrival at Simón Bolívar Airport in Santa Marta, a city affectionately known as the Pearl of the Americas. Our guide and driver will warmly greet you and embark on a scenic one-hour drive to Hotel Colores de la Sierra, located in the heart of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. This region is a paradise for birdwatchers, boasting over 70 endemic taxa, with 24 species officially recognized. As you settle in, you'll be surrounded by the breathtaking landscapes of the world's most important continental endemism hotspot, setting the tone for an unforgettable journey.

    Birding Treasures Around Colores de la Sierra

    After a delightful breakfast, you'll spend the day exploring the vibrant birdlife around the hotel. The surrounding forests, trails, and roads are home to over 300 bird species, including highlights like the Rufous-tailed Jacamar and the Bicolored Wren.     This morning, you'll transition to the higher altitudes of the Sierra Nevada, traveling to the charming Mountain House Hotel. As the elevation increases, so does the diversity of bird species. The day will be dedicated to birdwatching in the pristine habitats surrounding the hotel, followed by a relaxing evening enjoying local cuisine and the serene mountain ambiance.

    Discovering the Heights of Cerro Kennedy

    Start the day with a hearty breakfast before heading to Cerro Kennedy, the highest birding point of your journey. This iconic location offers spectacular views and unparalleled opportunities to observe the unique avifauna of the region. After a rewarding morning of birding, return to Mountain House in the afternoon for some well-deserved rest and preparation for the next phase of your adventure.

  5. Day 05

    Transition to the Guajira: A Desert Oasis

    After breakfast, the journey continues toward the captivating landscapes of La Guajira. Upon arriving in Riohacha, you'll check into Hotel Taroa, where comfort and delicious cuisine await. This marks the beginning of the second chapter of your Caribbean adventure, blending the charm of coastal deserts with vibrant wildlife.

  6. Day 06

    Flamingos and Hidden Gems in Camarones

    Early in the morning, depart for Camarones, a hidden gem of La Guajira. This arid yet vibrant region is home to the stunning Santuario de Fauna y Flora Los Flamencos, where pink-hued flamingos and an array of birdlife thrive. One of the highlights is the Vermilion Cardinal, an emblematic bird of this region. After a day of birdwatching and exploring this unique ecosystem, return to Hotel Taroa to unwind and enjoy the evening.

  7. Day 07

    Final Birding in Camarones and Farewell to Santa Marta

    On your final day, check out of Hotel Taroa and return to Camarones for a last birdwatching session, seeking out any species you might have missed. By midday, you'll depart directly for Simón Bolívar Airport in Santa Marta, marking the end of this remarkable journey.
